The short version
Jot does not operate an account system, analytics service, advertising SDK, or remote inference service. Jot does not collect your journal content, recordings, extracted thoughts, projects, usage history, or personal identifiers.
Information stored by Jot
Your journal entries, recordings, transcripts, extracted items, projects, priorities, and insights are stored locally in Jot's app container on your iPhone. They remain under your control and are not sent to the developer.
On-device intelligence and speech
Jot uses Apple-provided on-device technologies to organize text and transcribe supported speech. If on-device transcription is unavailable, Jot keeps recording your audio but does not silently switch to remote transcription.
Permissions
- Microphone and speech recognition are requested only when you choose voice input.
- Calendar access is requested only when you explicitly choose to add an extracted event.
- Notification permission is requested only for reminders you choose to create.
Subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple. Apple provides Jot only the signed transaction and entitlement information needed to unlock Jot Pro. The developer does not receive your full payment details. Apple's own privacy policy governs Apple's processing.
Backups and deletion
Jot's local data may be included in your encrypted iPhone backup according to your Apple backup settings. Deleting Jot removes its local app data unless that data is restored from a device backup.
Children's privacy
Jot does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated before the revised policy applies.
